Epic throwback to remind all of us at the beginning of the gaming era where it all began, and how it still brings joy to us even today. Did the spaceman ever meet the Protoss on Aiur!?
I normally don't enjoy stick animation, but this was great! It was a well-thought battle sequence, and the fluid movements were great. I'd definitely watch more of your work in the future, if you add a storyline to these (you may have already, not sure, this is my first time seeing your work), it would be much more effective in immersing the viewer into the battles. Nice job!
That music and animation bring back tons of memories of my childhood, and I believe thats what your aim was. Anyone who was born before 1990 will definitely have some appreciation for this, as it is very nostalgic in style. As far as the lag goes, are you using AS3? Because that definitely sounds like an AS2 problem, if you are using AS3 there should definitely be a way to avoid that end lag. Either way you are correct to use gotoAndPlay, there really isn't any other way than to physically loop it a couple times in the timeline before having it reset to the star screen, which may not be a bad idea either.
Again, this is awesome stuff. The plot keeps the viewer wondering as it skips around which is really good. Again though, I'm commenting on the sound, these animations are awesome, but the only thing that brings them down are the recorded sounds. They sound like they are either recorded in an empty room far from the mic, or too close to the mic. Often times the recorded sound peaks and we continually hear that loud static sound (at any volume) and its not very pleasing to the ears. I seriously enjoyed the guido bashing part, nicely done. This series is sweet you just gotta work on that sound! Overall, again Great Work!
This was awesome, the images and animation are great, and the way you told/animated the backstory before coming to the present was great. You have some serious talent in drawing and animation, the only thing that seems off was the voice acting, it was good, but it seems as though 1 guy was recorded in an empty room, and the other 2 recordings were too close the microphone because they constantly created static mic noise. If you can get fix those voice acting sound issues, this can be a really pristine series with a huge fanbase. Awesome job, looking forward to part 2!
Its a good idea, but it needs more development. It gets too difficult too quickly so I would suggest making the level larger, start with 1 or 2 drones instead of 3, add more powerups and increase their frequency a tad, while decreasing the frequency in drone spawnings. Overall, again this is a nice Idea that needs a bit of tweaking, and I hope my suggestions help, they may not get perfect results but I hope its a good starting point that you can use to equalize the gameplay.
I assume by frequency by the difference in spawns so maybe like 3 seconds for the first spawn 4 with the second...
And Thanks!
All should be in Drone Avoider 2
You really captured the old game style. The sound effects were phenomenal! This is a really nostalgic game that will bring back memories of an age of gaming gone by. Really good, love the style, gameplay, and sounds. Good work!
This was a great game! The only thing I would suggest though is to increase the speed and frequency of the enemy spacecraft a little bit. It was difficult to score more than single kills, especially because they tend to hover near the edge of the screen a bit before coming to the center of the stage. I absolutely loved the background, it was perfect, and I got distracted a few times watching the people get sucked into the spacecraft! Overall this was really well done, I enjoyed the sound-effects a lot as well! Good work, Great game!
This is a really unique game with a great concept. The only problem is naming items, you may want to allow the program to accept more than one name for a figure. For example, for the "stickman", I typed in stickfigure, stick figure, man, stick man, then finally stickman, if you are able to allow it to accept all of those valid answers this game would be much more enjoyable. I would suggest tweaking that aspect a little bit, other than that, very cool game!
